Myopia Management in Central Arkansas
As nearsightedness (also known as myopia) becomes increasingly common, it’s more important than ever to address it early. If current trends continue, the World Health Organization predicts that half of the world’s population will be nearsighted by 20501.
At Family Eye Clinic, we provide myopia management at all three of our locations in Sherwood, Levy (North Little Rock), and Landmark (South Little Rock). Left unmanaged, myopia can increase the risk of serious eye problems later in life, such as retinal detachment, glaucoma, and cataracts. Our personalized myopia management programs aim to slow the progression of nearsightedness in children and teens, helping protect their vision now and in the future.

Symptoms of myopia
Myopia causes difficulty seeing distant objects clearly, while close-up vision remains clear. Common signs your child may be nearsighted include:
-
-
Squinting to see faraway objects
-
Sitting too close to the TV or screen
-
Holding books or devices very close
-
Blinking or rubbing eyes frequently
-
Headaches after school or reading
-
Poor performance in sports requiring distance vision
-
Complaints of blurry distance vision
-
If you notice any of these signs, it’s important to schedule a pediatric eye exam to evaluate their vision.
How to treat myopia
At Family Eye Clinic, we offer a variety of evidence-based treatments designed to slow myopia progression and reduce the risk of future complications. Treatment options for myopia may include prescribing specific types of glasses or contact lenses, or using eye drops for myopia control. Our team will create a customized myopia management plan based on your child’s needs, ensuring the best possible care.
